Sonia Oram, known for her “warm, rich sound” (Lyn Bronson 2005) made her solo debut at age 20, performing with the Hilton Head Symphony orchestra. She holds a Bachelors of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, where she served as principal of the Oberlin Orchestra. A Boston native, Oram’s primary teachers have included Carol Rodland, Karen Ritscher, and Peter Slowik. Oram studied Baroque performance practice with Marilyn McDonald for two semesters at Oberlin, leading to an interest in period performance. She currently owns a transitional period bow. Oram’s entrepretuial career combines performing music in a variety of genres and venues, teaching, and artist management.
